Born on February 10, 1932, in Mvomeka'a, a small village in the South Region of Cameroon, Paul Biya was raised in a traditional Beti family. His parents, George Biya and Anastasie Obama, were both farmers. Biya's early education took place at the local Catholic school, where he demonstrated exceptional academic abilities. He later attended the Yaoundé Catholic Seminary and the National School of Administration in Paris, France.

Biya's entry into politics was facilitated by his education and connections.
